Toasting to a Tea Party

Looks like Tea Sales are up in April.

Tea Parties that took place across America on April 15th was a remarkably energizing display for conservatives and those who believe in the core principles enacted by the Founding Fathers.   There is a fight or struggle for America’s soul.  The millions of people who were involved in the demonstrations or protests were protesters for the first time in their lives.  They are not serial protesters, but the producers, creators, and accountable citizens of all economic stripes.  The Tea Parties were an outcry and repudiation of the steps and direction that the Obama Administration and Congress are taking us.  They were protests against the increased movement toward the “Nanny” state.

The seemingly endless bailouts of trillions that are being paraded out has become disturbing as the following generations are being mortgaged with a sea of debt.  To pay for the increased government spending that we do not have, our taxes or various “fees” will assuredly be going up.  The Tea (Taxed Enough Already) parties were a very civil exercise of our right to express our discontent of a ongoing march toward European socialism.  One of the key principles of our country’s Founders is the right of  individual liberty and limited government.  Conservatives believe that our constitution is the foundation for the  laws of our land, while liberals see the Constitution as an outdated and outmoded document that might be an interesting read, but it is nothing to take very seriously in determining how we choose to govern ourselves.

If you had heard or know someone who may have attended an event in their home town, then you would have heard from someone who felt uplifted from their experience of listening and engaging with others who had similar concerns to the direction of our great country.  There were over 2,000 demonstrations or events that were held on Tax day that were peaceful and interactive.  They were peaceful because we had homes to go back to, families to raise, and were going back to work the next day.  God Bless America and to all those who love and enjoy freedom.

  1. Hi Kevin,

What a great way to protest. So often they end up violently.

    Enjoy the journey.

  2. Tea Parties are an annual event on tax day, not new to the Obama Administration. My biggest inquiry those who now protest government spending is, why did you sit on your laurels and say nothing while the Bush Administration turned a surplus into the huge deficit that it gave the incoming president – and our country. The enormous deficit that we have now is from Republicans totally getting away from the fiscal conservatism they tout, and spending like drunken sailors for eight, long, years. At least, the spending going on now is an investment into job creation. That certainly couldn’t be said of the mismanaged spending of the past eight year and unreasonable and unsupported billions of Halliburton Contracts that the Bushies couldn’t get through quick enough. Give me a break, Obama has been in office three months, the debt left to our children came LONG before he even began to campaign.

  3. Interesting post Kevin. As an amateur non-US citizen-historian I seem to remember that the tea parties were to protest Taxation without Representation?
The Constitution makes a lot of the separation of 3 powers – Legislative, Juducial and Executive, but there is a fourth Power – the Monetary Power, which controls the creation of the nation’s money supply. Dictatorship in the USA will arise through the capture of this power by private interests outside the Congress. This has already happened – The Federal Reserve system serves the private banking cartels.
